EFCWest is providing a Root Cause Analysis Training for the entire US Climate Action Network (USCAN). USCAN is a network of almost 200 nonprofit organizations committed to fighting climate change in a just and equitable way. Starting in August 2021, EFCWest has been working with the four USCAN Action Teams: 100% Renewables, Vision for Equitable Climate Action, Building Power from the Grassroots Up, and No Fossil Fuel Infrastructure. This training is funded by USCAN. The goal is to provide the tools and approaches to identify leverage points to help address the complex issue of racial and economic justice within the climate change movement.
In order to identify the underlying causes of a problem so that the most appropriate solutions can be recognized and implemented, EFCWest provides Root Cause Analysis (RCA) training for organizations and communities. RCA is a systematic process for identifying “root causes” of problems or events and effective approaches for responding to them.
System level change requires a deliberative process that incorporates multiple stakeholders, perspectives, barriers and opportunities. Systemic problems are ingrained, cause and effect are separated over time and therefore hard to link. And all too often we rely upon our own or a small pool of knowledge to define answers. In response, this project will support partner organizations and USCAN efforts to identify strategic targets, policies and leverage points for systems level change.
