EFCWest has been working with the Kewa Pueblo in New Mexico on their climate vulnerability assessment and adaptation plan. As a traditional Tribe, the Kewa have a greater dependence on resources and services provided by their ecosystem, and are at increased risk when their system is jeopardized by climate change. The first step was to work with the Pueblo to help them identify their most important assets and resources. In 2019/2020 we will be focused on adapatation planning. It is critical to support the Kewa in their efforts to ensure that they thrive over the long term with minimal exposure to climate-based threats to their health, environment and culture.
